About Me
My story

I have been developing full-stack applications since 2010. I have worked for many start-ups as well as multi-billion-dollar businesses. I have delivered projects solo as well as projects with 20 team members. I am very familiar with modern practices in delivering software.

I have a unique ability that I have only seen in a few develop across my career. That ability is the thirst for knowledge. What I mean by that is if I don't know something I will obsess about it until I become an expert in it. It has helped me learn so many things so quickly.

I love software development. It is my passion. I enjoy solving problems and helping people/organizations along the way. There is nothing more enjoyable to me than taking a project that seems impossible and delivering it early.

What I Do
Frontend
Development

Writing any frontend application. I talk a lot about Angular but I am so experience in JavaScript I am confident I can deliver most anything.

Backend
Development

I have an enterprise level of experience with Java backends and even more with Microsoft backends.

Azure
Hosting

I have a lot of experience with servers hosted on prem and in the cloud. In most cases we can check out your current situation, budget a move, create a plan and move your environments into Azure.

Site
Optimizations

Maybe your site is too slow. It's possible customers are getting frustrated and navigating away. Let me help.

Pricing, Quality and Speed
Unattainable Triangle

"The triangle is a maxim that high-quality services delivered quickly and efficiently to customers will always come at a higher price and vice versa." As you can see with the interpretation of my triangle, I deliver high-quality quickly but it comes at a cost.

  • Front End Development

Building front-end applications isn't just writing some html, JavaScript and CSS. It is security. How do we make sure users aren't doing malicious things on our site? It is SEO. How do we rank higher on Google? It is analytics. What kind of traffic are we getting and how do we digest it? It all these things plus so much more!

  • Backend Development

Backend development can get super complex. You have micro-services, authentication, authorization, streaming, validations, and so much more. Whatever you have I can accommodate it.

  • Web Layout

It is important when building web application to keep the consumer in mind. How will they use the application. Imagine yourself in their shoes. Do they need to use this application on mobile? How can we save them time? How do we rebuild an old application, make improvements and keep the existing users happy?

  • Wireframing / Prototyping

Often you might be working with a product owner and need to express an idea. It is important to be able to prototype to help business users get a clear picture.

  • Collaboration Tools

How can you keep in touch with a team or business. Collaboration tools are important in the process of software development. I have used many tools include Azure DevOps, Bitbucket and Version 1.

  • Typescript

Typescript was an important addition to the JavaScript world. It gave us the ability to strong type things within JavaScript. I have worked with typescript for hours a day for the last 4 years. I've done very complex typing for many libraries that I've built.

  • HTML / CSS

As an engineer it is very important to understand how and when to use html tags as well as styles applied to tags. I can take any screen and match it near pixel perfect.

  • C#

I am an expert when it comes to C#. This is a language I have been using since the start of my career. I write low overhead, sleek code and it is not only readable but it is reliable.

  • T-Sql

It is important, even when using entity framework, to know how to write and read sql statements. Though I may be a little rusty, I have the knowledge to be able to debug any issues sql statement might be producing.

  • Java

In 2017, when joining the Delta team, I was given the opportunity to learn and contribute Java code. It was familiar because of its similarity to C#. I took the challenge and excelled at it. I started writing micro-services on a daily basis and because very proficient with it. I may not be familiar will all the libraries but I have no trouble spinning up a backend server and writing it in Java.

    Angular

I do it all in Angular. SSRs, libraries, lazy loading, web workers, performance optimization, etc. I've taken poorly performing applications (30% in lighthouse), optimized them and got them to 80%. I use redux to manage the state. This allows for easier handling of application flow.

    Node Js

I do scripting in node as well as hosting sites using express with it. When developing an SPA, it is important to host your application using SSR. SSR allows your application to take advantage of SEO. This is one of many aspects of node that I know.

NPM is an important backbone for frontend applications. From serving your dependencies to packing and publishing to package managers. I have years of experience with NPM.

    ASP.NET / Web Apis

Very familiar with building .NET backends, as well fullstack mvc applications. All the applications I build are very secure. I have built custom authorization and authentication backends using identity server as a guideline. I have a lot of experience with writing optimized LINQ queries for EF. So much to list.

  • 90%
    Azure

There is a lot to Azure. Everything you can think of is there. I have taken businesses from no cloud host to full cloud hosting. Having their projects in the cloud freed resources up to focus on other aspect of the business. I know many aspects of production hosting in Azure.

    Magnolia CMS

I've helped take a blank Magnolia project and build a high-volume shopping application for Delta Dental using Angular 2+. This was something, at the time, wasn't supported. Not only did we build a shopping site but Angular applications to spawn custom shopping sites.
